- 01
Open your image
Import the photo you want to resize; it becomes a layer on the canvas.

Choose how layers respond
Scale everything proportionally to the new size, or keep layers at their original size and just change the canvas around them.
Resizing the canvas vs. resizing a layer
PhotoJam’s canvas resize changes the overall project dimensions — with an option to scale every layer proportionally along with it, or leave layers exactly as they are and just grow or shrink the space around them.
Starting a brand-new project instead? Pick from built-in size presets — Instagram post and story, a YouTube thumbnail, a Facebook cover, a Twitter/X post, a LinkedIn banner, or A4 for print — instead of looking up the right pixel dimensions yourself.
An individual layer can also be scaled on its own, by dragging its selection handles, without touching the canvas at all — useful when only one photo or shape in a larger composition needs to change size.
Resizing up, making a small image larger, stretches the existing pixels rather than inventing new detail — the same tradeoff any editor makes. For the cleanest result, start from the highest-resolution version of a photo you have.
Frequently asked questions
Can I resize without stretching everything inside it?
Yes — turn off "scale content" when resizing the canvas and your layers stay at their original size and position.
Are there presets for social media sizes?
Yes, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn and A4 print are all built in when starting a new project.
Does resizing lose image quality?
Shrinking an image is lossless in terms of detail; enlarging it stretches the existing pixels, like any resize.
Can I lock the aspect ratio while resizing?
Yes, toggle the lock and width/height adjust together automatically.
